Bibi Manga was a Cameroonian musician and a prominent figure in the African music scene during the 1980s. He was born on 29 May 1950 in Douala, Cameroon and died on 8 July 1993 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Manga started his music career in the early 1970s and rose to fame in the 1980s with his unique blend of African rhythms and pop music. His music was political and touched on issues like poverty, inequality, and corruption. He was particularly known for his song "Free Education in Cameroon," which became an anthem for the struggle for better education in the country.
Manga released over 10 albums during his music career, including "Mekambo" (1983), "My Love" (1989), and "Pitié" (1992). He was also a prolific songwriter and produced music for other Cameroonian artists.
Bibi Manga died tragically at the age of 43 in a car accident in Yaoundé, leaving behind a rich legacy in African music. His music continues to inspire and influence young Cameroonian artists today.
